vital substances: Brazil nuts contain vitamins B1 and E, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, potassium, selenium and phosphorus and thus help to cover our daily mineral and vitamin needs.1,2

In general, nuts have been shown to lower the cholesterol level in the blood due to their polyunsaturated fatty acids, stabilize the blood sugar level, support the blood vessels, reduce the risk of stomach and prostate cancer and heart attacks and inhibit inflammatory reactions. 3

Brazil nuts contain an antioxidant capacity of 1419 µmol TE (ORAC value = Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacit).

By consuming foods rich in antioxidants, the defense mechanism in the body can be strengthened and an overproduction of free radicals can be balanced out. An ORAC daily requirement between 5000 and 7000 is recommended.4

Description: Our Brazil nuts thrive in the dense rainforest. The trees can be over 300 years old. Our organic Fairtrade Brazil nuts are consistently beautiful as they are carefully sorted by hand. The wild nuts are light to dark brown or stronger in colour. The taste is very pleasant and slightly nutty. The consistency of the nuts is very crunchy, just like they need to be. The Brazil nuts are of course shell-free, because they are checked several times.

Origin: We source our wild organic Brazil nuts from Bolivia. The members of the COINACAP cooperative in the Bolivian rainforest collect and process the Brazil nuts sustainably. With the purchase, resale or processing of our organic Brazil nuts, you support the cooperative and you also contribute to the protection of the rainforest, the lungs of our earth. Furthermore, thanks to the cooperation with Fairtrade, the farmers can offer their families a secure income and their children a new perspective.

Harvest: Brazil nuts are harvested during the rainy season from November to March. The fallen Brazil nuts are collected by hand and then opened with a bush knife to expose the nuts. Before being dried, the nuts are washed. In the so-called collection centers, the nuts are very carefully sorted and handpicked several times. The harvest, drying and sorting takes place under high hygiene standards and with great care.

Purity: Arriving in Austria, the Brazil nuts are pressure treated and checked as standard. When it comes to printing, the interaction of pressure and time ensures absolute freedom from pests.
