sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) is probably one of the oldest oil plants in the world and possibly one of the healthiest foods on our planet! Our black organic sesame ripens under the sunny Uzbek sky. It is nutty and aromatic in taste and has a different color than our normal black sesame. This is because the organic sesame is a wild variety and for this reason has several shades of black. The crispy grains are neither peeled nor subjected to similar processing steps.

Origin and production:

We source our organic black sesame exclusively from Uzbekistan / Samarkand. This is how we ensure that our high quality standards are maintained. The sesame plants grow in fields near Samarkand, where large parts of the region are certified organic. The large community consists of three groups of farmers - Dustkul Bogi, Turkiston Gulba and Turob Bobo. Thanks to this, over 1,000 farmers and their families can secure their livelihoods and offer their children new opportunities. After the harvest, the sesame seeds are threshed out of the "ears". Then they are checked several times for quality and dryness. The drying process itself is carried out locally and gently until the seeds reach the required degree of drying.

Product purity:

In Austria, the seeds are pressure treated to ensure that the product is completely free from pests. Open Sesame!

Vital substances:

It's a wonder this tiny seed is so rich in nutrients! In addition to high amounts of healthy oil and protein, sesame is a source of vitamin E, which is responsible for protecting valuable unsaturated fatty acids from oxidation and is therefore responsible for the long shelf life of sesame oil. No wonder sesame oil was the oil of choice in Chinese cuisine until recently. Sesame seeds also contain high amounts of the water-soluble vitamins folate and niacin. Among the many functions of folic acid, you have probably heard of its crucial role in tissue growth during pregnancy. Sesame is a bomb of minerals and trace elements with, among other things, an astonishingly high calcium content. The high bioavailability of this mineral makes sesame an excellent source of calcium for vegans and people with lactose intolerance. Calcium is essential not only for the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, but also for normal muscle function, neurotransmission, and the normal functioning of digestive enzymes. Forget dietary supplements, our black sesame seeds provide you with the magnesium you need to ensure normal muscle function and electrolyte balance as well as normal protein synthesis and normal bones and teeth. In addition, sesame is a good source of iron, zinc and copper, all important trace elements that are essential for the normal functioning of our body. In addition to vitamin E, sesame contains compounds called lignans whose effectiveness as scavengers has been well documented.
