become dates "The Bread of the Desert" called. They are considered very valuable because they are easily digestible fruits rich in vitamins and minerals, which quickly provide energy with their sugar content. A must for every desert traveler, but also for every nutrition-conscious European. In addition, dates are quite rich in magnesium, B vitamins and fiber, which makes our intestines very happy. The glycemic index, on the other hand, is very low.1,2
Dried dates contain an antioxidant capacity of 3895 µmol TE (ORAC value = Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity).
By consuming foods rich in antioxidants, the defense mechanism in the body can be strengthened and an overproduction of free radicals can be balanced out. An ORAC daily requirement between 5000 and 7000 is recommended.3
Our organic fair trade date halves are extra sweet dates halved.
Origin and manufacture:
We source our organic Fairtrade date halves exclusively from Tunisia. It is particularly important for Tunisia to produce fair trade products in addition to the difficult economic and political situation.
The country is characterized by tourism and the associated extremely high water consumption. On the other hand, there are small farming families fighting for traditional agriculture and a healthy relationship with nature and people.
The cooperation with FAIRTRADE gives the farmers and their families a secure income and the children new perspectives.
Harvesting the dates or the date bushes is very daring, from a European point of view, because the cutting is done by hand, high up in the date trees. The detaching of the date from the stem, the sorting, pitting, halving and packaging are all done by hand. The only advantage is that the dates are already dried, because nature does this work while the dates are still hanging on the trees.
In Austria, the dates are pressure treated as standard. When it comes to printing, the interaction of pressure and time ensures absolute freedom from pests.
