Vital substances and description:
The seeds of the rosehip have a wonderfully fine taste reminiscent of vanilla. They are therefore particularly popular in teas or in tea blends. In folk medicine (medicine from the people for the people), rosehip seeds are used for kidney and bladder diseases, for "stones" (deposits) in the body, for gout, rheumatic diseases and for sciatica symptoms [1 to 3].
The kernels, which are also known as rosehip nuts, contain the ingredient galactolipid. Research is ongoing to link galactolipid to a reduction in inflammation, pain, body stiffness in the morning and a reduction/lowering of cholesterol.
Origin:
We source our organic Fairtrade rosehip seeds exclusively from Uzbekistan. This is the only way we can be sure that the quality meets our high standards.
Rose hips grow in remote natural areas near Samarkand. The area is largely organic and FAIRTRADE certified. The approximately 1,000 farmers belong to one of three large Fairtrade groups, Dustkul Bogi, Turkiston Gulba or Turob Bobo. Thanks to the cooperation with Fairtrade, the farmers can offer their families a secure income and their children a new perspective.
Drying:
After the manual harvest, the rose hips are opened and the individual seeds are carefully sorted out. The kernels are then gently dried with the help of the sun. The solar drying method used is very environmentally friendly and gentle on the product.
Purity:
Pressure disinfestation is one of our standard processes, so all of our products are pressure disinfested. When it comes to printing, the interaction of pressure and time ensures absolute freedom from pests.
