Vital substances: "The gold of the Inca"! Quinoa is a so-called pseudo-grain and does not contain gluten. Quinoa can therefore be used in a low-gluten and gluten-free diet - if it has been tested for gluten beforehand!
In contrast to normal types of grain, quinoa has significant amounts of magnesium, iron, zinc and B vitamins. In addition, it contains a high protein content, which has a perfect amino acid composition. This special property also gave quinoa its reputation to be the "gold of the Incas", because despite a one-sided diet with quinoa, the body is supplied with all (essential) essential amino acids!1,2
Quinoa should therefore not be missing in a varied diet.
Headache watch out: The causes of headaches are very different. However, it was found (to be found in Dr. med. Helmut B Retzek3) that magnesium, zinc and B vitamins can have a positive influence on saying goodbye to this mostly recurring pain. Useful information: As a natural protection against pests, the quinoa seeds contain a bitter-tasting substance called saponin, which has a hemolytic (blood-dissolving) property. When heated, e.g. B. When baking and roasting, the saponins of the quinoa flour are significantly reduced.

Origin: The remote Andean village "Salinas de Garci Mendoza", which belongs to the department of Oruro (Bolivia), is located at an altitude of around 4000m. Around 700 people live in the village. The village lies at the foot of the Cerro Caricha mountain and is 15 km from the world's largest salt lake (the Salar de Uyuni) on earth. Our organic Faritrade Quinoa comes from this remote region.
Fairtrade: As early as 1994, several farmers from the region joined forces and founded the Asociación de Productores de Quinua Salinas ”, or APQUISA for short – a farmers' association - which today has around 230 members. The Fairtrade certificate was awarded to the farmers in 2007.
One of the main reasons for the acceptance of “Fairtrade International”, carried out by “FLO-Cert”, was the fact that the farmers of Salinas process the quinoa (harvest, wash, dry and pack) in their own hands and the farmers thus benefit directly from the sale of their goods. Additional taxes for rents or processing are therefore not incurred and the money earned stays with the farmers in the region, who in turn support the population with their income through their additional profit.
Purity: Once in Austria, the quinoa is pressure treated, laser cleaned and checked several times as standard. With pressure removal, the interaction of pressure and time ensures absolute freedom from pests. During the subsequent multiple cleaning in the laser cleaning system, the grains are checked individually in order to rule out any foreign contamination. Only when the quality has been checked several times are the quinoa grains carefully ground in a gluten-free plant.
