vital substances: It is the high concentration of the glycoside betanine that is responsible for the intense red color in the beets. This natural red dye is very popular to give food a beautiful red colour.
In addition, the beetroot contains a lot of vitamin B, iron and folic acid as well as potassium. This in turn makes them very valuable for our diet1,2,).
Beetroot is commonly used to:
- get the body going, especially the bile and liver
- Strengthen blood vessels and the heart because it regulates blood pressure (high blood pressure)
- to support the body in losing weight
- to protect against cancer and to
- cleanse the body and intestines
Description: Our organic Fairtrade beetroot pieces are around 5x5 mm in size, soft and ideal for further processing. Their taste is very intensely aromatic and they smell pleasantly of beetroot. The color of our beets is very intense and dark red.
Origin and manufacture: We source our organic Fairtrade beets exclusively from Uzbekistan/ Samarkand. The cultivation areas are largely organic and FAIRTRADE certified and are managed by the FAIRTRADE farmers who live there. The farmers belong to a large Fairtrade community, which is made up of 3 groups, Dustkul Bogi, Turkestan Gulba und Turob Baba. They include around 1,000 individual farmers, along with their families. Thanks to the cooperation with Fairtrade, the farmers can offer their families a secure income and their children a new perspective.
After harvesting, the beets are washed, cut and then gently dried with the help of the sun. The drying process used is a very environmentally friendly solar drying method that is extremely gentle on the product.
Purity: Here in Austria, the red beet pieces are pressure treated and checked several times. When it comes to printing, the interaction of pressure and time ensures absolute freedom from pests.
