Vital substances: Cherries contain anthocyanins, more precisely cyanidin.
“Anthocyanins have antioxidant effects that can exceed that of vitamin C and vitamin E, at least in vitro, many times over. ... In the human body they bind free radicals and thus protect the DNA as well as lipids and carbohydrates from damage. Other effects are ascribed to the anthocyanins: They are supposed to improve the visual processes, have an anti-inflammatory and vascular protective effect. " 1
"Sour cherries contain vitamins A, B1, B2 and E, as well as significant amounts of potassium and folic acid." 2 The vitamin C content can even be 10 times higher than that of lemons 3.

Sour cherries contain an antioxidant capacity of 6800 µmol TE (ORAC value = Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity).
By consuming foods rich in antioxidants, the body's defense mechanism can be strengthened and an overproduction of free radicals can be balanced out. An ORAC daily requirement between 5000 and 7000 is recommended.
Description: Our organic Fairtrade sour cherries are very fruity and have a very sour taste. The bright dark color is created during the gentle drying of the product. Sour cherries have less flesh than sweet cherries.
Origin and manufacture: We source our wild organic Fairtrade sour cherries exclusively from Uzbekistan. The area is largely organic and FAIRTRADE certified and is only cultivated by the FAIRTRADE farmers who live there at harvest time. The farmers belong to a large Fairtrade community, which consists of 3 groups, Dustkul Bogi, Turkiston Gulba and Turob Bobo. Around 1000 individual farmers and their families belong to them. Thanks to the cooperation with Fairtrade, the farmers can offer their families a secure income and their children a new perspective.
After the harvest, the cherries are washed, pitted and then gently dried with the help of the sun. The drying process used is a very environmentally friendly solar drying method that is extremely gentle on the product.
Purity: The cherries are made in Austria pressure treated and laser cleaned. With pressure removal, the interaction of pressure and time ensures absolute freedom from pests. During the subsequent multiple cleaning in the laser cleaning system, the organic cherries are checked individually in order to exclude any foreign contamination, such as pips / core parts.
