vital substances: The mulberry tree is one of the oldest cultivated plants in our world. The ingredients of mulberries are said to have valuable health effects for the human organism. Hildegard von Bingen recommended mulberries for fever, cough and sore throat because of their supposed expectorant effect. They are also said to protect the liver against inflammation3.

Mulberries contain some vitamins, including vitamin C. They also contain various secondary plant substances such as essential amino acids, minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc and manganese.1-5

Mulberries are said to have a particularly large number of antioxidants and are therefore often considered the perfect anti-aging fruit. Antioxidants switch off free radicals that damage the genetic material in our cells. This damage to the genetic material can lead to diseases such as diabetes, arteriosclerosis or rheumatism.5

Dried mulberries contain the same nutrients as fresh mulberries, only in a more concentrated form. Especially in times when the body needs more vital substances, or a sufficient supply is not always guaranteed, we recommend dried mulberries or similar dried fruits.

Description: Our organic mulberries "Shotut" are dark and sticky, yet pleasantly soft and large (depending on the harvest). They have a sour, fruity taste and are very aromatic.

Black mulberries are also called shotut in Uzbekistan. Tut is the word for the mulberry and Sho comes from the old word for shah or king. In the past, dried black mulberries, also known as king mulberries, were served at court as a special and very exquisite specialty and were reserved for the king, queen and special guests.

Origin and manufacture: We source our black organic mulberries from Uzbekistan. They mature there on bushes. The area is extensively certified organic and is only farmed for harvest by local organic FAIRTRADE farmers.

The mulberries are treated as Fairtrade products by the Fairtrade community, which is made up of the groups Dustkul Bogi, Turkiston Gulba and Turob Bobo. There are currently no standards according to which FAIRTRADE International mulberries can be certified.
Therefore, although the mulberries meet the current Fairtrade requirements, they cannot receive the logo and the Fairtrade farmers do not receive any additional bonus for their additional effort. Here you can see that the fair trade idea has entered the blood and is lived, even without money.

The mulberries are harvested by hand, but only when the berries are fully ripe. After harvesting, they are carefully washed and then gently dried with the help of the sun. The drying process used is a very environmentally friendly solar drying method that is extremely gentle on the product.

In Austria, the mulberries are pressure treated. When it comes to printing, the interaction of pressure and time ensures absolute freedom from pests.
