Our organic Fairtrade carnations are:

vital substances: The buds of the evergreen clove tree are full of surprises. The first thing to mention is their antioxidant properties. This gives us an additional protection, which we can use especially during the winter months.

Cloves are known for their really high antioxidant capacity of 290283! µmol TE (ORAC value = Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacit). By consuming foods rich in antioxidants, the defense mechanism in the body can be strengthened and an overproduction of free radicals can be balanced out. An ORAC daily requirement of between 5000 and 7000 is recommended.²

It continues with a strengthening function for the liver, stomach and brain, as was believed in the Middle Ages.¹

Cloves are also very popular as a mild pain reliever when you have a toothache. The essential oils it contains can also produce a slightly numbing feeling in the mouth and were therefore once used as an alternative anesthetic at the dentist.

Description: Our organic cloves have a fine film of oil on the surface, which reveals their very good quality. Only if this is still present do the cloves still contain their essential oils, which in turn are essential for their taste.

Due to the organic cultivation method, our cloves not only have many important ingredients, but also a sustainable and fair idea that is lived from the ground up. Even if it is "only" a spice, we assume that the handling of the food has a very decisive influence on the quality of the products.

Origin and manufacture: We source our organic Fairtrade cloves from Sri Lanka. The cultivation areas are largely organic and FAIRTRADE certified and are managed by the FAIRTRADE farmers who live there. The farmers belong to one of the two Fairtrade groups SOFA or MOPA. Thanks to the cooperation with Fairtrade, the farmers can earn their livelihood securely and independently. Projects such as clean drinking water, school materials for the children and educational projects can be paid for with the Fairtrade premium.

After the manual harvest, the clove buds are gently dried and checked again. Many work steps are carried out traditionally and exclusively by hand.

In Austria, our carnations are pressure treated and checked again several times. When it comes to printing, the interaction of pressure and time ensures absolute freedom from pests.
