Vital substances: Brazil nuts contain vitamins B1 and E, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, potassium, selenium and phosphorus and thus help to meet our daily requirements for minerals and vitamins.1,2
In general, nuts have been shown to lower the cholesterol level in the blood due to their polyunsaturated fatty acids, stabilize the blood sugar level, support the blood vessels, reduce the risk of stomach and prostate cancer and heart attacks and inhibit inflammatory reactions. 3
Brazil nuts contain an antioxidant capacity of 1419 µmol TE (ORAC value = Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity).
By consuming foods rich in antioxidants, the body's defense mechanism can be strengthened and an overproduction of free radicals can be balanced out. An ORAC daily requirement between 5000 and 7000 is recommended.4
Description: Our Brazil nuts thrive in the dense rainforest. The trees can live for over 300 years. Our organic Fairtrade Brazil nuts are consistently beautiful because they are carefully hand-sorted. The wild nuts are light to dark brown or stronger in color. The taste is very pleasant and slightly nutty. The consistency of the nuts is very crunchy, just as they need to be. The Brazil nuts are of course shell-free because they are checked several times.
Origin: We source our wild organic Brazil nuts from Bolivia. The members of the COINACAP cooperative in the Bolivian rainforest collect and process the Brazil nuts sustainably. With the purchase, resale or processing of our organic Brazil nuts you support the cooperative and you also contribute to the protection of the rainforest, the lungs of our earth. Furthermore, thanks to the cooperation with Fairtrade, the farmers can offer their families a secure income and their children a new perspective.
Harvest: The Brazil nuts are harvested in the rainy season from November to March. The fallen Brazil nuts are collected by hand and then opened with a machete to reveal the nuts. Before they are dried, the nuts are washed. The nuts are sorted very carefully and handpicked several times in the so-called collection centers. The harvest, drying and sorting are carried out under high hygiene standards and with great care.
Purity: When they arrive in Austria, the Brazil nuts are pressure-treated and checked as standard. With pressure removal, the interaction of pressure and time ensures absolute freedom from pests.
