vital substances: "The gold of the Incas"! Quinoa is a so-called pseudocereal and contains no gluten. Quinoa can therefore be used in low-gluten and gluten-free diets - if it has been tested for gluten beforehand!
In contrast to normal cereals, quinoa has significant amounts of magnesium, iron, zinc and B vitamins. In addition, it contains a high proportion of protein, which has a perfect amino acid composition. This special property also gave quinoa its reputation of being the "gold of the Incas", because despite an unbalanced diet with quinoa, the body is supplied with all (essential) vital amino acids!1,2
Quinoa should therefore not be missing from a varied diet.
Attention headaches: The causes of headaches are very different. However, it was found (read at Dr. med. Helmut B Retzek3), that magnesium, zinc and B vitamins can have a positive influence on saying goodbye to this pain, which usually recurs frequently. Quinoa can help us with this because it contains these 3 important ingredients in a completely natural way.
Useful information: As a natural protection against pests, quinoa seeds contain a bitter-tasting substance called saponin, which has hemolytic (blood-dissolving) properties. When heated, e.g. B. when baking and roasting, the saponins of quinoa flour are significantly reduced.

Origin: The remote Andean village "Salinas de Garci Mendoza" is located at an altitude of around 4000m, which belongs to the department of Oruro (Bolivia). Around 700 people live in the village. The village lies at the foot of the Cerro Caricha mountain and is 15 km from the world's largest salt lake (the Salar de Uyuni) on earth. Our organic faritrade quinoa comes from this remote region.
Fairtrade: As early as 1994, several farmers from the region came together and founded the Asociación de Productores de Quinua Salinas”, APQUISA for short – a farmers' association – which now has around 230 members. The Fairtrade certificate was awarded to the farmers in 2007.
One of the main reasons for the commitment of "Fairtrade International", carried out by "FLO-Cert", was the fact that the processing of the quinoa (harvesting, washing, drying and packaging) is in the hands of the farmers of Salinas and the farmers thus benefit directly from the sale of their goods. Additional taxes for rent or processing are therefore not incurred and the money earned stays with the farmers in the region, who in turn support the population with their income through their additional profit.
Purity: Arrived in Austria, the quinoa is pressure treated, laser cleaned and checked several times as standard. When it comes to printing, the interaction of pressure and time ensures absolute freedom from pests. During the subsequent multiple cleaning in the laser cleaning system, the grains are checked individually to rule out any foreign material. Only after the quality has been checked several times are the quinoa grains carefully ground in a gluten-free facility.
